Training event arrangements

Before the training event

We do not provide trainers; the organizer must obtain trainers by themselves. In internal training, the trainer is most often a specialist from Tampere University Hospital. Associations and equipment manufacturers may also hire experts from elsewhere to provide training.

Rent for facilities, such as lecture rooms, outside TSEC or catering are not included in the price of the surgical laboratory reservation. However, we can help you with other reservations and catering. We also provide training management services; for example, applying for specialization hours, managing registrations, preparing certificates and nametags, and collecting feedback. Fees for other facilities, catering costs and other services are billed separately. You can order services by using service order form

For the preparation of the training event, we need information about the schedule, the exact surgical procedures, the instrumentation required for the training, as well as the operating position of cadavers and the changes in that well in advance. A schedule and plan for the use of cadavers should be given no later than four weeks before the planned event. Details such as the operating position and instrumentation should be confirmed one week before the training session. A list of participants must also be delivered to TSEC at least one week in advance. If a cadaver is to be used in the training before the autopsy, an exact description of the procedures must be submitted to TSEC no later than the Monday of the week preceding the training.

During and after the training event

The organizer of the training is responsible for ensuring that the participants in the event have familiarized themselves with and comply with the rules of TSEC. If radiation is used during the training, the training provider must ensure that trainers and participants are aware of TSEC's radiation protection guidelines. During the training session, it is the duty of the organiser’s representatives to ensure that radiation safety is observed. A representative or trainer using the C or O arm must keep the dosimetry of the arm during the training in the surgical laboratory.

At the end of the training, all wounds made should be carefully sutured, in layers if necessary.

After training, a person in charge of the training fills out a form for each cadaver, listing all the procedures on the cadaver and any abnormal findings. This is especially important if the training has taken place before the autopsy.
